Conference on the Gaza Desalination Plant
20 March 2018 – The Pledging Conference Gaza Central Desalination Plant will take place the 20 March 2018.
Gaza is in the midst of a water crisis, only 3% of the sources of freshwater in Gaza comply with World Health Organization drinking water quality standards. The “Desalination Facility for the Gaza strip” project is a landmark operation consisting of three integrated projects in the Gaza Strip: the construction of a 55 million cubic meters desalination Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) plant; a North-South conveyance system; and a Non-Revenue Water reduction project.
The large-scale desalination facility and its associated water supply infrastructure will supply drinking water to more than 1.8 million Palestinian inhabitants, thereby presenting a sustainable solution for the chronic and longstanding water shortage in the Gaza Strip. The Conference should secure the necessary funds for the construction of the facility.
