Deputy Secretary General
Water fosters socio-economic growth, supports human security and is essential for environmental needs. The Southern shores of the Mediterranean are among the world’s most water-scarce areas, with more than 150 million people facing water stress due to the increased demand and shortage of the resources as a result of climate changes. Such challenges make it important to promote an efficient partnership, create sustainable cooperation mechanism and engage all segment of the society including women, civil society and private sector in the policy dialogue to develop a sustainable and responsive water and environment agenda to meet national needs, regional obligations and global commitment.
