{"id":106706,"date":"2020-10-06T13:23:32","date_gmt":"2020-10-06T12:23:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ufmsecretariat.org\/\/?p=106706"},"modified":"2020-10-09T16:03:55","modified_gmt":"2020-10-09T15:03:55","slug":"meeting-sg-spanish-mfa2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ufmsecretariat.org\/ar\/meeting-sg-spanish-mfa2020\/","title":{"rendered":"UfM Secretary General meets with Spanish Foreign Affairs Minister to discuss Euro-Mediterranean relations in the eve of the 25th anniversary of the Barcelona Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>5-6\u00a0October 2020,\u00a0Madrid<\/strong>.\u00a0UfM Secretary General, Nasser Kamel and\u00a0Spanish Foreign Minister\u00a0Arancha\u00a0Gonz\u00e1lez\u00a0Laya\u00a0met today in Madrid\u00a0to discuss\u00a0the\u00a0preparations\u00a0of the\u00a05th UfM Regional Forum, that will gather the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the UfM Member States in Barcelona by the\u00a0end of this year.<\/p>\n<p>Building on the success of the first\u00a0four\u00a0editions, the Forum will provide\u00a0the\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to take\u00a0stock and\u00a0analyse\u00a0the future prospects for cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region,\u00a0exactly 25\u00a0years after the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ufmsecretariat.org\/\/ar\/25bcnprocess\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">launch of the Barcelona Process<\/a>, which paved the way for the creation of the Union for the Mediterranean in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>The Forum will be presided by the Co-Presidency of the Union for the Mediterranean, assumed by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission,\u00a0Josep\u00a0Borrell, and by the\u00a0Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of\u00a0of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,\u00a0Ayman Safadi.<\/p>\n<p>In his trip to Madrid, the UfM Secretary General also met with\u00a0Cristina\u00a0Gallach,\u00a0Spanish\u00a0State Secretary for\u00a0Foreign Affairs and for\u00a0Ibero-America the Caribbean.
