In line with the agreed roadmap of\u00a0the Gaza Strip Desalination Facility project, the Secretariat of the UfM is organising a\u00a0<\/strong>High-level Expert Meeting to discuss\u00a0the project’s design, governance and financial arrangements. This meeting will take place next\u00a08\u00a0October\u00a0in Brussels, with the participation of the Palestinian government.<\/p>\n

2015 presents a clear opportunity and momentum to liaise more closely with partners and governments in an effort to achieve tangible progress. The way forward passes through the mobilisation of funding, the clear financial and political commitment by different stakeholders, the elaboration of a financial mechanism and the set-up of dedicated, cross-sectorial implementation and supervisions structure.<\/p>\n

The main objective of this meeting is to review and agree on the technical components of the project and discuss the financial model and the future mechanisms. Participants\u00a0will also discuss the\u00a0next steps, in particular those concerning the UfM Donors Meeting, expected to take place in 2016.<\/p>\n
