The purpose of the visit was to sign a cooperation agreement between Cyprus and the Union for the Mediterranean through which the Government of Cyprus will support the work of the Secretariat and contribute financially to its budget.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the signature of the agreement, Ambassador Toumazis and Secretary General Sijilmassi held a meeting in which they discussed the projects of the Secretariat and the future prospects of regional cooperation in the Mediterranean region. UfM Secretary General thanked the Ambassador for the support of his government and pointed out that this agreement shows the great commitment of UfM members with the Secretariat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Secretary General of the UfM, Fathallah Sijilmassi, welcomed the Ambassador of Cyprus, Antonis Toumazis, at the UfM premises, in Barcelona.
