The conference served as a unique forum to share experiences not only on the Mediterranean region, but also on Latin America and Africa, and to create synergies and establish working relationships between the various institutions present.<\/p>\n

Moreover, urban development, as demonstrated by the sessions on climate change, good governance, economic and social challenges, has a direct impact on all of the priority areas of the UfM and most importantly, urban development planning and management directly affects the livelihoods and wellbeing of the peoples around the globe. For which reason, the UfMS has the obligation to deliver projects that will contribute positively towards urban planning actions and projects in the Euro-Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n

The conference represented a good opportunity to engage the UfMS to the urban development debate, so did the conference organised by the Division of Transport and Urban Development which took place the following day at the premises of the Secretariat in Barcelona.<\/p>\n
