The UfM region is performing well in attracting international public climate finance. Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries have attracted between 12% and 13% of the global international public climate finance commitments each year. However, despite this positive performance, the UfM region still has a margin of progress, as investments in adaptation are only representing approximatively one-third of mitigation commitments. The UfM presented the true-to-life steps to accomplish climate actions, from initiating policies to enhancing climate finance access and action implementation in the margins of the UN conference COP25 in Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>Quote by Mr. Mokhtar Hammami, Minister of Local Affairs and Environment of Tunisia: \u201cl\u2019Environement est devenu une dimension essentielle des droits de l\u2019homme\u00a0\u00bb (\u00ab\u00a0the environment has become an essential dimension of human rights\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>The event was also the opportunity to present the results of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ufmsecretariat.org\/\/ar\/%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%aa%d9%88%d8%a7%d8%b5%d9%84-%d9%88%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%b1%d8%a4%d9%8a%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%a7%d8%aa%d8%ad%d8%a7%d8%af-%d8%a3%d8%ac%d9%84-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d8%aa%d9%88%d8%b3%d8%b7\/publications-and-speeches\/\">first UfM International Climate Finance studies<\/a> and the methodology for developing a Mediterranean Climate Finance Strategy (2019) and to promote the climate actions undertaken by national authorities and cities in the Mediterranean region, showcasing their contributions to mainstream the implementation of NDCs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>This side-event was organised to give greater visibility and demonstrate to the international community the evident role and involvement of tens of Southern Mediterranean cities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ufmsecretariat.org\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Agenda-Clima-Med-UfM-side-event-VF.pdf\">Full Agenda of the event<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>13 December, Madrid.
