The <a href=\"https:\/\/ufmsecretariat.org\/\/ar\/covid-ar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID-19 global pandemic<\/a> is presenting unprecedented challenges. The Mediterranean is no exception, with riparian countries looking for responses that not only address the crisis, but also tackle long-standing challenges, including ensuring water supply and sanitation services for all and long-term water availability through sustainable water management practices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In this context, the Water Division of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), is convening an\u00a0<b>on-line consultation with its Member States and partner institutions and organizations<\/b><b>,<\/b><b>\u00a0on the afternoon of 9 June and the morning of 10 June <\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The goals of this meeting are to:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">1. Take stock of the situation, implications for the region and responses to COVID-19, particularly in relation to the implementation of the UfM Water Policy Framework for Actions 2030.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">2. Discuss and agree on regional priority actions that can complement individual country efforts, supported by and eventually aligning with the European Green Deal as a roadmap for sustainable and resilient post-COVID recovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">With regards to the second objective, the virtual consultation is expected to foster synergies of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ufmsecretariat.org\/\/ar\/region-wide-water-agenda-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UfM Water Agenda<\/a> with ongoing work at the European Commission, through the identification of areas for collaboration and potential complementary of work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The meeting will be hosted by the UfM with technical support from the Global Water Partnership \u2013 Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
