Mr. Salvador Illa i Roca, and the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, H.E. Mr. Nasser Kamel. The ceremony was attended by the Minister for European Union and Foreign Action of Catalonia, Hon. Mr. Jaume Duch, and the incoming Acting Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, H.E. Ambassador Mr. Fadi Hajali, who will assume his duties on 1 July 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">The signing of the Memorandum marks a new chapter in the longstanding partnership between the Government of Catalonia and the Union for the Mediterranean, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and the development of joint initiatives and social actions aimed at promoting dialogue, inclusion, and sustainable development across the Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">Following the ceremony, a meeting was held as a farewell tribute to Secretary General Nasser Kamel on the occasion of the completion of his mandate and to formally introduce Ambassador Fadi Hajali in his capacity as incoming Acting Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean from 1 July 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The participants reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the strong and constructive relationship between the Government of Catalonia and the Union for the Mediterranean and expressed their confidence in further deepening their cooperation in the years ahead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>29 June 2026, Barcelona &#8211; Today, at a ceremony held at the Palau de la Generalitat in Barcelona, the Government of Catalonia and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation and advancing common initiatives in the Mediterranean region.
