Barcelona, 15 May 2013<\/b>. <\/i>The preparatory work of the UfM Euro-Mediterranean Sustainable Urban Development Strategy<\/i> that started in March 2012 following the request by the First Ministerial Conference of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) on Sustainable Urban Development<\/i> (Strasbourg, November 2011), has been successfully concluded on the occasion of the Fifth Senior Official Experts Meeting<\/i>. <\/i><\/p>\n
The main elements of the Strategy, namely, the \u2018UfM Guidance Framework for Sustainable Euro-Mediterranean Cities and Territories\u2019;<\/i> the \u2018Study for the Creation of an Urban Agency for the Mediterranean and of An Award for Urban Innovations\u2019<\/i>; and a report on the latest developments about the Urban Projects Finance Initiative (UPFI), are the result of joint work and have been approved by the UfM Senior Official Experts in the presence of representatives from the Arab League, International Financial Institutions (IFI\u2019s), and numerous institutions working on urban matters, and they will be submitted to the UfM Ministers in charge of urban development for adoption, during the Second Ministerial Conference of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) on sustainable urban development<\/i> (date to be confirmed).<\/p>\nABOUT THE STRATEGY<\/h4>\n
