The UfM Senior Officials have appointed today, the Moroccan candidate Mr. Youssef Amrani as new Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean. This decision was made by consensus and according to points IV(1) and VI(a) of the Statutes of this institution.<\/p>\n
Mr. Amrani was born on 1953 in Tangier (Morocco). He is the actual Secretary General of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Ministry of Morocco. In his diplomatic career he has been Consul in Barcelona (Spain) from 1992 until 1996 and Ambassador to Colombia, Chile and Mexico. The new Secretary General of the UfMS has participated actively in the creation of the Arab Maghreb Union.<\/p>\n
Mr. Youssef Amrani is expected to take office on the 1st\u00a0July 2011.<\/p>\n
