A quality higher education for all in the Mediterranean: Towards a renewed higher education agenda

With 40% of the population under the age of 25 in some areas of the Mediterranean, youth unemployment and under-employment in the region has been among the highest in the world for more than two decades. 3-4 June 2021, Patras.UfM Secretary General, Nasser Kamel held a bilateral meeting with the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Miltiades Varvitsiotis, in view of reinforcing cooperation and synergies between the UfM Secretariat and the Hellenic Republic. The UfM presents its 1st Report on Euro-Mediterranean Regional Integration

Trade accounts for 35% of GDP in the Mediterranean region, and the intra-regional trade market is one of the most important in the world. Today, the first edition of the UfM Progress Report on Regional Integration, commissioned by the UfM, and prepared by the OECD, was presented in an online event along with policy recommendations and an insight on best practice in regional integration from around the world. The UfM Secretary General, Nasser Kamel, held an online meeting with Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S), a collective of financial centres working to accelerate the expansion of sustainable finance by enabling financial centres to exchange experience, drive convergence, and act on shared priorities, with the aim of contributing to the delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. 2021.03.19. UfM Secretary General Meets with President of Plan Bleu

19th March 2021 – The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Nasser Kamel, and the President of Plan Bleu, Thierry Lavoux, virtually met today to officialize the signature of the 2nd phase of their Cooperation Agreement  towards a sustainable development in the Mediterranean basin. As part of the agreement, both parties will jointly support and promote the efforts of the scientific network of Mediterranean Experts on Climate and environmental Change (MedECC). 25 february 2021 – UfM member states met on 25 February 2021 to review and discuss the follow-up of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Barcelona Process/5th UfM Regional Forum, held on 27 November 2020.
