RAISING AWARENESS OF THE CLIMATE CHALLENGES IN THE MEDITERRANEAN<\/strong><\/p>

Last year\u2019s CoP27 hosted for the first time a Mediterranean Pavilion, providing the basis for upgrading regional climate action this year at CoP28 in Dubai (November 30-12 December 2023) aiming at reaffirming priorities, striking new agreements and consolidating visibility of the Mediterranean region.<\/p>

A strong Mediterranean presence at CoP28 is essential given the importance of climate negotiations as the first Global Stocktake of the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the centrality that the theme of energy will have, while all other main sectors of climate and environment action will also be in the spotlight.<\/p>

The Mediterranean Coalition office is conceived as the proper step to achieve our shared goals, within a precisely planned strategy<\/strong> that started with the Mediterranean Pavilion last year at COP27. The office is an instrument of action, networking, coordination, discussion that places the Mediterranean region in the climate decision making arena. It will be the symbol of a unified identity, a place to convene stakeholders, build new partnerships and consolidate the existing ones.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Pavilion is open to different participation and partnerships with not just public institutions, but also civil society organisations and private sector entities engaged in catalysing a sustainable transition through collective and scalable innovation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

A call for ideas to select the best projects to develop the energy transition path and solve the industry\u2019s challenges in the Mediterranean region is being launched by OMC organizers and FEEM – Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim is to promote and award research and technological innovation in the field of sustainable energy with focus on the Mediterranean region, helping new generations of researchers and young professionals to emerge, supporting their work. The promotion of new alliances across the Med is key to accelerate the transition towards a low carbon and sustainable future. With a total budget of 1,850000 euros over a 4-year period, the project Scaling up forest and landscape restoration seeks to restore biodiversity and promote joint mitigation and adaptation approaches in the Mediterranean.
