Tourism Climate action plans in the Mediterranean: A vision for the Future

Day: 11/11/2022
Time: 10:00 -
 11:00 (Egypt local time, CET+1)
Place: Mediterranean Pavilion
Organised by: Interreg MED Programme and UNIMED

Tourism has a huge potential to drive a more inclusive and resilient sustainable development, especially in the Mediterranean, which is the world’s leading tourism destination and one of the most vulnerable regions to climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution and waste. We believe that the “Glasgow Declaration on climate action in Tourism” is a powerful tool to tackle this triple crisis and that it deserves further and wider support.  For this, our debate will feature the participation of UNWTO to recall the main pillars of the declaration, beside regional and local authorities who will present locally-lead impactful initiatives, aligned with the Declaration’s principles, striving to decarbonize the tourism sector and to develop nature-based tourism offer.
