The roles of women in family and business life are also of great importance for the success of the steps to be taken against climate change. The United Nations (UN) Climate Change Gender Action Plan includes the goals of “full, equal and meaningful participation of women” in the implementation of the UN climate change negotiation and the dissemination of a gender perspective in UN bodies. Similarly, gender-sensitive approaches of the Green Climate Fund are supported in all its processes and practices, including gender policy, especially projects related to gender issues.

Background

In September 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development) was adopted with the signature of 193 countries. The Sustainable Development Goals 2030 agenda includes goals that are linked to each other in terms of social, economic, and environmental aspects. The 2030 Agenda, which accepts the elimination of poverty in all its dimensions as an integral part of sustainable development, and brings together the efforts to combat climate change with economic and social development issues; It is aimed to include all societies in efforts to reduce poverty and increase welfare around the world, to protect cultural and social values and to prevent environmental damage. In this new global development approach, in addition to social and environmental issues such as gender equality, observing the needs of disadvantaged groups, reducing food waste, combating desertification and drought, and protecting biodiversity, economic issues such as economic growth, technological development, employment, and industrialization have also been brought to the agenda of sustainable development. Along with economic indicators, targets were determined on issues such as gender equality, sustainable cities, anti-discrimination, and human rights. One of the important issues in this framework is the Sustainable Development Goal1 SDG1 (Ending all forms of poverty everywhere), SDG4(Providing inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all), SDG5(Ensuring gender equality and promoting gender equality), which is one of the important issues. Empowering all women and girls), SDG8(Promoting stable, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all) specifically includes efforts to involve women actively in the processes.
