2nd Economic Business Forum (5+5 Dialogue)
Lisbon, 21 May 2014
The 2nd Economic Business Forum of the 5+5 Dialogue will take place on 21 May 2014, in Lisbon, Portugal. Sustainable Development will be the central theme of the Forum, structured around four strategic pillars: water, environment, infrastructure and financing. These topics will be considered from the viewpoint of the challenges and business opportunities for the companies in order to identify areas of strategic cooperation in joint projects and initiatives for the interest of all 5+5 Dialogue member countries.
As agreed in 1983 in France, the purpose of the Western Mediterranean Cooperation (5+5 Dialogue) is to strengthen political dialogue and cooperation in areas of common interest between the countries of the western basin of the Mediterranean and to promote the economic development of the Maghreb Region. Portugal and Mauritania currently have the co-presidency of the 5+5 Dialogue.
The 1st Economic Forum of the Western Mediterranean was held last October, 2013 at the headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean, in Barcelona, as the first step towards deepening the dialogue and cooperation in the economic and business fields.
