3rd Arab-Euro Conference on Higher Education (AECHE)
University of Barcelona, Barcelona, 25-27 May 2016
Reflecting on society and contributing to its development through research and education in collaboration with key stakeholders is at the core of the universities’ mission. While being part of the society and subject to their specific social, economic and political developments, universities and their communities are able to experience and explore academic exchange and collaboration around the globe.
The Third Arab-Euro Conference on Higher Education (AECHE 3) entitled “Opportunities and Challenges for Arab and European universities in fulfilling their societal mission” will address the opportunities and threats that result from these interactions for both Arab and European universities in these particularly challenging times. The conference will provide a forum to share and discuss experiences with a view to identifying opportunities for strengthening universities’ role and inter-university cooperation.
Since 2013, AECHE brings together the Association of Arab Universities (AARU) and the European University Association (EUA) and their respective members with the aim to open a sustainable process of dialogue, mutual understanding, exchange of knowledge and best practices, as well as to increase cooperation between Arab and European Universities. Two conferences have already been held: the first AECHE meeting took place at the University of Barcelona and the Second at the Princess Sumaya University of Technology in Amman.
The UfMS is an associated member of the AECHE Steering Committee and co-organiser of this event.
