16-17 November 2023, Tirana (Albania) – The aim of the Meeting “Re/Defining the Role of Housing Agencies in Albania and Montenegro: Learning from peer countries”, which will take place in Tirana, Albania on 16-17 November 2023, is to conduct a first assessment of Albania’s and Montenegro’s needs, in terms of setting up its Housing Agency in the case of Montenegro, and of redefining the roles of the existing one in the case of Albania, in view of the experience of peer countries such as Ireland and Slovenia.
The discussion will cover the institutional/organizational aspects of housing agencies and the different financial schemes existing in each of the participant countries with the aim to identify the needs of the countries and the requirements to put in place for a support programme for Albania and Montenegro within the framework of the Technical Support Instrument of the European Union.
The meeting will resume the discussions held in the framework of the session “(Re)Defining the Role of Housing Agencies in 2023 in the Euro-Mediterranean Region” which was held in Barcelona, Spain on 8 June 2023, in the framework of the 2023 International Social Housing Festival (ISHF). The session also was part of the implementation of UfM Housing Action Plan, and it addressed the different roles that housing agencies in Southern Europe countries could play to ensure affordability in housing.
