Kick-off Conference for the project Young Women as Job Creators

The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean will hold the Launching Conference of the Young Women as Job Creators project on Tuesday, 30 April 2013, at its headquarters in Barcelona.
The Conference will be attended, among others, by the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Fathallah Sijilmassi, the President of the Association of Organisations of Mediterranean Businesswomen (AFAEMME), Maria Helena de Felipe Lehtonen, the Spanish General Deputy Director for Women’s Professional Promotion at the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Gender Equality, Begoña Suárez Suárez, the Coordinator for Africa of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Arne Gjermundsen, the representative of Gas Natural Fenosa, Enrique Berenguer Marsal, and the Secretary for Foreign Affairs of la Generalitat de Catalunya, Roger Albinyana.
Young Women as Job Creators is promoted by the Association of Organizations of Mediterranean Businesswomen (AFAEMME) and endorsed by the 43 Member States of the UfM. The project promotes self-employment and entrepreneurship among young female university students who are about to graduate from the University and have an interest in starting their own business. The project’s core events are Women Entrepreneurship Days (WEDs). They will consist of seminars which will provide the participants with specific training and coaching to start their own businesses. The seminars will be hosted by local universities, faculties, businesswomen associations and partner institutions.
The project’s presentation is open to the media and will be followed by press declarations by the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Fathallah Sijilmassi, and the President of the Association of Organisations of Mediterranean Businesswomen (AFAEMME), Maria Helena de Felipe Lehtonen.
