UfM opens to Northern and Eastern Europe: working visit of UfM Secretary General to Poland
Barcelona, 14 March, 2013. The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Fathallah Sijilmassi, made a working visit to Poland on 7 and 8 March 2013. He held a meeting with Mr. Radoslaw Sikorski, Polish Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Poland reaffirmed its active support to the Union for the Mediterranean and insisted in its wish to share its experience of political transition and socio-economic development in the region.
During the visit, Mr. Sijilmassi held meetings with several Polish high representatives, such as the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jerzy Pomianowski, designated executive director of new European Endowment for Democracy (EED) which will be based in Brussels during the first semester of 2013.
Mr. Sijilmassi gave also two conferences in which he exposed all UfM activities’. The first conference was held in the Lazarski University in partnership with the Warsaw Middle East Institute, where he met the student and business community. The second conference took place in the Polish Institute of International Affairs with the participation of the diplomatic corps in Warsaw.
