Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, reiterates his support to the UfM
Rabat, 12 July 2018. The designated Secretary General, Nasser Kamel, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Morocco, Nasser Bourita. They stressed the importance of the work of the Union for the Mediterranean on regional cooperation. To this end, the Moroccan Minister reiterated Morocco’s commitment to strengthening and propelling the organization, confirming Morocco’s active contribution to the UfM and the firm commitment of his country to ensure its smooth operation and sustainability.
On the margins of this visit, the designated Secretary General of the UfM was invited by EuroMeSCo, the main network of research centers on politics and security in the Mediterranean, to deliver a keynote speech at its Annual Conference, under the title “Changing Euro-Mediterranean Lenses”.
During his intervention, Nasser Kamel affirmed that the UfM “is the bridge that can truly lead to more affluence and understanding in a mutually dependent region in terms of challenges and economic growth”. “We must look at what can unite us rather than what divides us. We all share the desire of a better future for our youth. We need to work closer together on our shared aspirations, our common challenges and also opportunities”, he added.
