Marseille, le 13 novembre 2018 – Le Centre pour l’Intégration en Méditerranée (CMI) et l’Union pour la Méditerranée (UpM) ont signé un Mémorandum d’accord sur 3 ans marquant le lancement d’un nouvel accord entre les deux organisations. Les parties ont convenu de coopérer pour promouvoir le développement et l’intégration en région euro-méditerranéenne en vue d’instaurer et d’ancrer la paix, la stabilité et la prospérité. L’Union pour la Méditerranée (UpM) en partenariat avec le gouvernement du Portugal, a organisé la 4ème édition de la conférence régionale sur l’autonomisation des femmes en Méditerranée. La troisième édition du Forum régional de l’UpM a réuni les Ministres des Affaires étrangères des Etats membres de l’UpM pour réaffirmer leur engagement en faveur d’une coopération et d’une intégration régionales renforcées. À l’occasion du 10ème anniversaire de l’institution, les Etats membres de l’UpM ont établi un bilan du travail effectué au cours des dernières années et se sont concertés sur la marche à suivre en faveur du développement inclusif et durable de la région euro-méditerranéenne. The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Nasser Kamel, participated in the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA73), between the 22/27 September 2018, to highlight the importance of the Euro-Mediterranean region to the development of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the role of the UfM in its regional promotion and implementation. Access to affordable and sustainable housing is a global challenge growing fast in the Euro-Mediterranean region. Housing is at the core of the New Urban Agenda and is closely linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as to human rights issues, with adequate housing being recognized as part of the right to an adequate standard of living in international instruments. The building stock represents the single largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, with households accounting for 19% of total worldwide energy consumption.
