Mobilizing Action Against Climate Change: UfM Secretariat to attend United Nations Climate Summit 2014

UfM Secretary General Sijilmassi will head the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) delegation attending the UN Climate Summit 2014 at the UN Headquarters in New York. This year’s summit, entitled “Catalyzing Action”, aims to mobilize political willpower in order to champion an ambitious vision and accelerate progress on climate change. The call to action is a globally shared responsibility and also represents an opportunity to move toward sustainable prosperity. In the Mediterranean region precisely, following the UfM Ministerial Meeting on Environment and Climate Change last May in Athens, a UfM Climate Change Expert Group (CCEG) was established to reinforce Mediterranean cooperation against climate change through the development and implementation of regional projects. The inaugural meeting of the UfM CCEG will be held in the first half of October in Barcelona.
