Secretary General Ahmad Masa’deh calls for transforming the future of Mediterranean people into a bright and clean one though deploying solar energy
In his address to the Forum, Secretary General Masa’deh highlighted the importance of the Mediterranean solar energy plan which the Secretariat aims at developing in light of what projects of renewable energy can provide in terms of being energy efficient and environmentally friendly as they help in reducing greenhouse gases.
Masa’deh hailed initiatives such as Shams Ma’an aiming at developing solar energy and underlined that the UfM will be encouraging its members to set targets for renewable energy production in order to ensure that renewable energy accounts for a significant proportion of overall energy consumption according to the capabilities of each country. UfMS Secretary General also encouraged the formulation of country-by-country objectives for solar, wind, biomass, geothermal and other renewable sources, stressing that the Secretariat will march its efforts to call for financial and technical support for promoting renewable energy and will identify potential projects in this respect.
