SEMED Business Forum: Unleashing the Potential

The Secretary General of the UfM will participate in the first EBRD and CGEM business forum for the countries of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region – Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia. The meeting will take place in Skhirat, Morocco on 4 November 2015.
This event will be held under the auspices of the Moroccan Ministry of Economy and Finances and in cooperation with the Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM). It will bring together key policy-makers, government officials, investors and prominent businesspeople to discuss investment opportunities and business prospects across the region.
The UfM, a longstanding partner of the EBRD and CGEM, advocates policies to reinforce ecosystems friendly to entrepreneurship and employment opportunities notably in the framework of its Med4Jobs programme. The UfM currently works on 13 projects to promote youth employability and inclusive growth. More than 200,000 young people are expected to benefit from these projects.
President Chakrabarti will open the Forum together with the EBRD Governor for Morocco, Minister Mohammed Boussaid, and CGEM President Meriem Bensalah Chaqroun. Joining the President and Minister Boussaid in discussion will be Dr Sahar Nasr, Minister of International Cooperation of Egypt; Imad Naijib Fakhoury, Minister of Planning & International Cooperation of Jordan; and Amel Azzouz, State Secretary for international cooperation, Ministry of Investment, Development and International Cooperation, Tunisia.
Four interactive working sessions will bring together executives from the public and private sectors in discussion, a chance to explore the challenges in four vital areas: agribusiness, industry, infrastructure and sustainable energy.
The day has been designed to provide ample opportunity for guests to make contact and network with senior figures from the business and financial communities, as well as the public sector.
