The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean participates at the 17th International Symposium in the Series of Diplomacy in the 21st Century
London. – Prof. Ilan Chet was invited by the rector of the London Academy of Diplomacy, Prof. Nabil Ayad, to participate in the 17th International Symposium in the Series of Diplomacy in the 21st Century on March 29th. The Symposium, which took place in the London Campus of the University of East Anglia, was held under the title “Rethinking Diplomatic Practice, Global Commerce and International Security in the Age of Heteropolarity”.
The Diplomatic practice, Global Commerce, International Security, limits of Diplomacy and Heterpolarity were the five main subjects discussed during the Conference. Prof. Chet talked about the mission and the activities of the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean in the field of Higher Education and Research, and chaired the 5th Plenary on Heteropolarity. He explained how, through education, polarity present in all the societies and layers could be mitigated.
The meeting involved around 200 participants including Heads of Diplomatic Missions, Vice-Chancellors and Presidents of Universities, Directors of Diplomatic Academies, decisions-makers and several experts.
The London Academy of Diplomacy has developed a number of postgraduate qualifications to meet the needs of members of the London Diplomatic Corps, staff of various ministries, multinational corporations, non-governmental organizations, the media and graduates aspiring for an international career.
