
UfM Regional Platform on Industrial Cooperation convenes to discuss new EU policies on Standardisation Strategy, Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles and the Team Europe Initiative
14 June 2022, Online- The UfM Regional Platform on Industrial Cooperation convened on 14 June 2022, bringing together, along with the EU and Jordanian UfM Co-presidencies as well as the UfM Secretariat, representatives of Embassies, Small Business Act “SBA” coordinators and Senior Officials in charge of industrial cooperation from the UfM Member States. On this occasion, the most recent EU policies (EU Standardisation Strategy, EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles and Team Europe Initiative on Jobs through Trade and Investment) were presented and discussed.
Within the framework of the implementation of its new Work Programme for the period 2021-2024, the discussion focused on the thematic of strengthening resilience and building shared prosperity.
At the opening session, Outi SLOTBOOM, Director for Strategy and Economic Analysis, Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) highlighted that our common interest in strengthening resilience and building shared prosperity has only become more urgent since the work program was adopted, while Wafa JIRIES, Acting Director of The Foreign Trade Policy Directorate for the Foreign Trade Policy, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Jordan, underlined that our partnership remains more essential than ever to overcome the hard time, referring to the recent launch of the economic modernization vision for Jordan, by His Majesty King Abdullah, the Second.
From his part, Abdelkader El Khissassi, UfM Deputy Secretary General, reiterated the commitment of the UfM Secretariat to the successful implementation of the new Work program on Industrial Cooperation through the organization of concrete activities and the promotion of regional projects dealing with topics of relevance to this platform.
