Rabat, Morocco, 29-30 April 2026. Following the successful meetings held online in June 2025, the upcoming meetings of the UfM Regional Platform on Transport Connectivity and its thematic Working Groups (WGs) on Land, Air, Maritime Transport and on Logistics & Intermodal Transport, will be held in Rabat, Morocco on 29 and 30 April 2026. A Side Event on Sustainable Aviation Fuels will be held in its margins on 30 April. For the first time, the meetings will be organised in cooperation with a UfM Member State, namely with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics of Morocco.
The meetings of the UfM Regional Platform on Transport Connectivity and its thematic Working Groups will aim at discussing the progress of the implementation of the Regional Transport Action Plan (RTAP) 2021-2027 for the Mediterranean region, following the mid-term assessment carried out in 2025, as well as reflecting on how to maximise the benefits of ongoing regional projects and initiatives aiming to support UfM members in implementing the RTAP. In particular, the meeting will discuss the mid-term assessment’s identified priority areas of work and cooperation for the final years of implementation of the RTAP until 2027.
The Side Event on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) will bring together Mediterranean stakeholders to discuss and advance regional efforts to promote the production and uptake of SAF in the region. It will notably follow up on the commitments set out in the EU’s Pact for the Mediterranean, as well as on activities undertaken under ICAO’s ACT-SAF programme, supported by the EU. During the meeting, representatives from, inter alia, the European Commission and the EU Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) will present the state of play on SAF in the EU and the results of recent feasibility studies carried out under the ACT-SAF programme, while regional partners will be invited to present their ongoing initiatives and to share perspectives on opportunities and challenges on SAF production, use and deployment.
The meetings will bring together national transport coordinators (NCs) and focal points (FPs) for land, air and maritime transport and logistics/intermodal transport from technical line ministries of UfM Member States, as well as participants from key regional and international partner organizations.
