The first high-level coordination meeting between the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and World Health Organization (WHO) took place on Thursday 28 April. The meeting brought together more than 30 representatives and experts from the UfM and WHO to discuss and explore various avenues for collaboration in order to implement the Joint Action Plan following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both parties on 5 March 2020. L’Union pour la Méditerranée (UpM) souhaite recueillir des avis sur l’avenir de la coopération régionale Euro-Méditerranéenne dans le domaine de la recherche et de l’innovation. Le poids dans l’économie des industries marines et maritimes de la région méditerranéenne continuons de grandir grâce au développement du l’économie bleue. Pourtant, le déséquilibre des compétences entre les ressources éducatives disponibles et les besoins du marché du travail est accentué par la transition digitale et le changement climatique. The Med4Jobs Advisory Board Meeting 2021 brought together prominent stakeholders to take stock of the state-of-play of employment-related challenges and the efforts undertaken towards a sustainable and inclusive socio-economic recovery. The Mediterranean Initiative for Jobs (Med4Jobs) is a major building block of the UfM response to the unemployment challenge in the region. 19th March 2021 – The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Nasser Kamel, and the President of Plan Bleu, Thierry Lavoux, virtually met today to officialize the signature of the 2nd phase of their Cooperation Agreement towards a sustainable development in the Mediterranean basin. As part of the agreement, both parties will jointly support and promote the efforts of the scientific network of Mediterranean Experts on Climate and environmental Change (MedECC).
