29-30 January 2019, Barcelona. The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean hosted this past 29 and 30 January the annual meeting of the UfM Energy Platforms in Barcelona, Spain. The UfM Energy Platforms are the only existing dialogue forum gathering all Euro-Mediterranean countries as well as the key stakeholders dealing with electricity markets, renewable energy, energy efficiency and gas in the Mediterranean region. Le Secrétariat de l’Union pour la Méditerranée (UpM), participe activement à la COP24 en Pologne, où il présente deux études sur l’impact du changement climatique et sur l’état de la situation en matière de financement climatique dans la région. Sans mesures d’atténuation supplémentaires, l’augmentation de la température régionale sera de 2,2 °C en 2040, pouvant dépasser les 3,8 °C dans certaines régions en 2100. The Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Nasser Kamel, participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the WestMED initiative, which took place today in Algiers. The WestMED initiative seeks to promote specific measures to secure a sustainable development of the maritime economy in ten Western Mediterranean countries.
