The first high-level coordination meeting between the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and World Health Organization (WHO) took place on Thursday 28 April. The meeting brought together more than 30 representatives and experts from the UfM and WHO to discuss and explore various avenues for collaboration in order to implement the Joint Action Plan following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both parties on 5 March 2020. Le poids dans l’économie des industries marines et maritimes de la région méditerranéenne continuons de grandir grâce au développement du l’économie bleue. Pourtant, le déséquilibre des compétences entre les ressources éducatives disponibles et les besoins du marché du travail est accentué par la transition digitale et le changement climatique. Par exemple, la pêche traditionnelle en Méditerranée génère environ 200 000 emplois directs et 500 000 emplois indirects, mais la main-d’œuvre de la région a tendance à vieillir : près de la moitié des membres d’équipage ont plus de 40 ans, tandis que 17 % seulement ont moins de 25 ans….
