Plus d’une personne sur sept est confrontée à une forme de handicap dans le monde (OMS, 2021), et elles affrontent de nombreuses barrières à l’inclusion dans certains aspects clés de la société, d’autant plus dans le contexte de la pandémie de Covid-19. 27 January 2022. Marine litter, the vast majority of which is made of plastics, is globally acknowledged as a major environmental and societal challenge of our time. The Mediterranean is one of the most affected seas by marine litter with more than 130 marine species are affected by debris originating primarily from shoreline activities. The new project “Plastic Busters CAP:Fostering knowledge transfer to tackle marine litter in the Mediterranean” kicked off today under the umbrella of the UfM initiative “Plastic Busters”, to become an instrument to improve Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM), resulting in better local development planning. 26 January 2022. The UfM warmly congratulates the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), as it celebrates the 30th Anniversary of its founding in 1992. The UfM maintains close relations with the BSEC, with whom it signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2015. Given the respective missions and areas of cooperation, as well as the geographic common areas, the two organizations are deeply committed to the reinforcement of cooperation and creation of synergies in of common interests such as combating marine litter and plastics, addressing the negative impact of Climate Change and promoting the Blue Economy, among others. The UfM Regional Platform on Trade and Investment convened its second meeting in 2021 by videoconference. 16 December 2021. The 42 Member States of the Union for the Mediterranean convened today by videoconference for the second meeting of the UfM Regional Platform on Trade and Investment.
