29 January 2026, Bratislava, Slovakia – On January 29, 2025, a study visit will take place in Bratislava, Slovakia, where some members of the Union for the Mediterranean Platform on Employment and Labour would meet with the team from the European Labour Authority (ELA). This field visit is a follow-up of the UfM Informal Economy Workshop “Opportunities, Trends and Best Practices”, held in Istanbul, Türkiye on 16-17 September 2025.
The event will kick off with a welcome by ELA’s representative and a presentation by DG EMPL, setting the stage for a full day focused on addressing labour and employment issues.
Throughout the day, presentations will highlight various aspects of labour inspection and the informal economy. ELA will share insights about its mandate, tasks, and activities, while UfM Member States, including Albania, Germany, Greece, Montenegro, and Morocco, will present their experiences and innovations in labour inspection and mobility. Highlights will include digital tools for modern labour inspection and cross-border cooperation approaches.
Participants will also engage in discussions on tackling undeclared work and have Q&A sessions. The event will conclude with discussions on concerted and joint inspections by ELA, to mark the end of the study visit which aims at fostering international collaboration and improving labour standards across the Mediterranean.
