UfM participates in the New York Forum AFRICA 2014 held in Gabon
Libreville, 23-25 May 2014. The UfM Secretary General, Mr. Fathallah Sijilmassi, will participate in the New York Forum AFRICA 2014 held in Libreville, Gabon, over the period from 23-25 May 2014.
This year, the Forum will be held under the high patronage of H.E. President Ali Bongo Ondimba in collaboration with the Government of Gabon, and will focus on transformation: unlocking the competitiveness of the African economy through building value chains around the transformation of the continent’s natural resources, including its human capital.
The business and political leaders that gather in Libreville in May 2014 will engage in intense, collaborative sessions to draw up a road map – for individual businesses as well as national policy-makers – as a guide and spur to action. The New York Forum AFRICA is organized around a number of major debates that examine the key economic and business issues for Africa today. This year’s key themes are:
- Transforming the continent’s human capital;
- Transforming natural resources and energy;
- Transforming the land for agriculture;
- Transforming investment into industry;
- Transforming the African brand;
- Transforming citizenship for Africans.
Mr. Sijilmassi will participate in the panel on Transforming investment into industry growth scheduled for 24 May. Co-panelists will include Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO, Ethiopian Airlines (Ethiopia); Acha Leke, Director, McKinsey & Company (Nigeria); and Zemedeneh Negatu, Managing Partner Ethiopia, and head of Transaction Advisory Services for Eastern Africa, Ernst & Young (Ethiopia).
