UfM supports trade development in the Euro-Mediterranean region
Barcelona, 19 May, 2014. The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean hosted the “Euro-Mediterranean Trade and Investment Facilitation Mechanism (TIFM): Training Workshop for Technical Focal Points” on 12-14 May 2014, at its headquarters in Barcelona. The TIFM is a project funded by the European Commission (2014-2016) to improve economic integration between the EU and the Southern Mediterranean countries by providing an online portal of trade related information. The project covers the called “TIFM” countries, namely Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia and Turkey.
The project is being implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, and it will deliver the online information portal – EuroMed Trade Helpdesk – as well as coordinate a TIFM problem solving network of national institutions, responsible for responding to enquiries posted to the online portal, so as to facilitate trade and investment.
This three-day meeting was hosted at the headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean in the framework of the UfM activities towards boosting trade and investment in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
