19th Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean
9-12 February 2016 , Athens, Greece.
At the invitation of the UNEP/MAP-Barcelona Convention Secretariat, the UfM Secretariat will participate on 9-10 January at the 19th Meeting of Contracting Parties Meeting to the Barcelona Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean, in Athens. Alessandra Sensi will represent the UfM Secretariat as Senior Programme Manager on Environment and Water.
The UfM Secretariat and the UNEP/MAP-Barcelona Convention Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Istanbul (Turkey), in December 2013 on the occasion of CoP18th (18th Ordinary Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean and its Protocols of the Barcelona Convention).
The importance of this partnership agreement and the overall cooperation between both Secretariats is specifically recalled in the UfM Ministerial Declaration on Environment and Climate change, adopted by the 43 UfM Member countries on the 13 May 2014 in Athens.
