Experts of the UfM Secretariat promote Creativity and Heritage Values among Youth
- The UfM Webinar on “Creative Economy and Heritage Industries in Turbulent Times” introduced the public to the concept of cultural and creative industries and supply chains, as well as the heritage values in the UfM Region and how they can contribute to the attainment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- The Webinar is part of a series of webinars targeting the general public with more focus on younger stakeholders, as part of the UfM Secretariat’s efforts to reach out to a broader audience during times of crisis.
Barcelona, 8 October 2020. The fourth Webinar to be delivered by the UfM Economic Development and Employment Division took place today, anchored to the UfM Secretariat’s efforts to contribute to the post-pandemic recovery, targeting younger stakeholders and capitalizing on the in-house expertise in several sectors as part of its social responsibility and its commitment to reach out to more and more target groups.
The Webinar focused on the potential offered by cultural and creative industries and value-chains in the post-pandemic horizon in terms of contributing to economic growth and to job creation. It also touched on the monetization of the broad spectrum of heritage values shared by the people of the Euro-Mediterranean Region, and the related industries built around tangible and intangible heritage elements on both sides of the Mediterranean.
Following a brief on the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the UfM Region, Mohammed Elrazzaz from the UfM Economic Development and Employment Division explained the development of the Creative Economy concept and its relation to the Creative Class, the different categories and domains of cultural and natural heritage in the UfM Region, and ways through which their management can contribute to the realization of the UN SDGs.
More webinars reaching out to young professionals and entrepreneurs, fresh grads and university students are scheduled for the coming months.
