Deputy Secretary General Rafiq Husseini participated in the regional Meeting on Problems and Solutions for Mediterranean Dams

Many important people were present; among them were Mohammad Ennbali, former Tunisian Minister and President of IME, Mohammad Benblida, ex-Minister from Algeria, Hachmi Kennou, Exceutive Director, Michel De Vivo, Secretary General of International Commission on Large Dams and other representatives of government, NGO and private sector companies.

Deputy Secretary General Rafiq Husseini addressed the Workshop attendees on UfM’s vision, future plan of action in the Water and Environment Sectors and its basic guidelines for collaborative project proposals and extended the prospect of collaboration between IME and UfM Secretariat.
11 national reports on problems and solutions of dam silting up were presented at the meeting. This silting amounts to the loss of billions on cubic meters of water every year especially in the water-poor countries.
Mr. Hachmi indicated that IME will be ready to cooperate fully with the UfM Secretariat through bringing water experts from all over the Mediterranean to discuss the implementation of common strategies in cooperation with the UfM.
