20-22 November 2023, Matosinhos, Portugal – The conference will bring together the 15 current members of the Mediterranean New Chance network (MedNC) and 5 potential members, about 20 youth integration centres, technical and financial partners, public institutions, and representatives of the private sector working for the social integration of young people.
The objective of the conference is to federate entities and to generate dialogue among the stakeholders of the Mediterranean Second Chance systems, which strive for the social inclusion of vulnerable young people. The event will enable professionals to discover innovative schemes and inspiring methods aimed at improving support mechanisms in their own organisations. It will also be an opportunity for young people to make their voices heard by decision-makers.
The 3-day event will combine the network’s Steering Committee, visits to schools and social integration centres, the exchange of good practices, workshops and working groups, as well as an institutional day, with partners, institutions, the network’s members, and young people. This institutional day, which will be organized on 21 November in the Great Hall of the Municipality of Matosinhos, will be entitled “Acting together for the future of young people”; during two round tables, punctuated by interventions of young people, participants will be led to dialogue and to reflect together on the challenge of improving the support provided to young people for their transition from school to work.
