3rd Euro-Mediterranean Workshop on Fire Risks
7-8 May 2026, Cyprus. The 2026 edition will place a particular operational focus on fire risk management, addressing both wildfires (forest and bush fires) and industrial fire risks, recognising that fire emergencies increasingly represent a systemic regional challenge requiring integrated and cross-sectoral approaches.
Discussions will notably address regional cooperation around the Cyprus Regional Aerial Firefighting Station (CRAFS), integrated fire risk management, the use of space-based and satellite services for early detection and fire behaviour monitoring, artificial intelligence and advanced analytics for forecasting and decision-support, as well as governance and interoperability frameworks for cross-border fire and climate-induced and technological hazard management.
The workshop will also provide a platform for exchanges between EU and non-EU Mediterranean partners, policymakers and experts, to strengthen operational cooperation and share lessons learned across the disaster management cycle, including prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.

This workshop is co-organised by the European Commission (DG ECHO) and the Union for the Mediterranean, within the framework of the PPRD Med Programme, and builds on the two previous editions held in Tunis (2024) and Barcelona (2025).
