12 December 2023- 10h-13h CET (Online) – In an effort to advance gender equality within Mediterranean universities, the Union for the Mediterranean is organizing a significant online workshop to shed light on Gender Equality Plans and their crucial role in academic institutions.
The initiative stems from a collaborative dialogue between UfM, the Mediterranean Network of Engineering and Management Schools (RMEIM), the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED), and the Consortium of Euro-Mediterranean Universities Téthys. Recognizing the need to formulate and implement Gender Equality Plans in Mediterranean universities, the entities are working together to pave the way for a more equitable academic landscape.
The primary objective of the workshop is to contribute to the development of effective Gender Equality Plans tailored to Mediterranean universities. The technical workshop will delve into the process of drafting such plans, exploring development strategies and addressing the challenges that universities may encounter in such a process. Concrete solutions to these challenges will be discussed in depth during the workshop. Following the technical presentation, the workshop will transition into a roundtable discussion. Relevant stakeholders will share insights and experiences, emphasizing best practices related to the elaboration of gender equality plans. Furthermore, the discussions will specifically highlight pertinent issues in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
By facilitating dialogue and sharing expertise, this collaborative effort aims to drive meaningful change, promoting gender equality and inclusivity across academic institutions in the Mediterranean region.
