World Urban Forum (WUF) Networking Event “It All Starts With Her – Exploring womens impact on localising the Sustainable Development Goals”

Cairo, Egypt, 7 November 2024. The Networking Event “It All Starts With Her – Exploring womens impact on localising the Sustainable Development Goals” is dedicated to the transformative power of female-led urban development when we explore projects from around the world that advance Sustainable Development Goals. It will spotlight the vital role of local and women-led urban initiatives in driving global change, with a focus on gender mainstreaming and community empowerment. Actors from across the globe will present the impact of grassroots initiatives in urban landscapes.

Through a blend of presentations, small films, and networking, the event will spotlight the critical role of community-driven action in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve cities and communities that work in favor of women and girls. It will dive into presentations sharing insights on SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities), and other key SDGs . It will also include the power of storytelling through a tribute short film, showcasing inspiring projects driving change globally.

Participants will be able to engage in interactive networking, forging connections between the room full of urban development enthusiasts. The event will be an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of women in urban development will be celebrated, and their invaluable contributions of women in safeguarding and transmitting cultural practices across generations. It will also aim to chart a course for the future, exploring how these initiatives can further localise and monitor the SDGs.
