Pooling efforts to boost inclusive employment and job creation in the UfM region
The second meeting of the UfM Regional Platform on Employment and Labour for 2023 was held over two days in Berlin with the participation of multiple stakeholders and interlocutors from the region.
Perspectives from UfM Member States, regional organisations and projects and Social Partners were shared with the participants towards identifying best practices and building meaningful complementarities.
Berlin, 30 November – 1 December 2023. As part of the Roadmap 2022-2025 for the Implementation of the 5th UfM Ministerial Declaration on Employment and Labour of 18 May 2022, the UfM focal points convened at the German capital over two days for the meeting of the UfM Regional Platform on Employment and Labour.
In addition to the keynote speak by Germany on the cooperation with the Mediterranean and the presentation of the priorities of the Spanish EU Council Presidency, several sessions were dedicated to prioritary thematics including Youth Employment. Perspectives from UfM Member States, the European Training Foundation, the UfM Secretariat, and the Mediterranean Network of Second Chance Schools were presented during the first day, which also included field visits to the Youth Employment Agency, Regional Future Center Berlin, and the Equal Opportunities Office of the Federal Employment Agency.
The second day was dedicated to debriefing on the field visits and to the implementation of the Marrakech Ministerial Declaration with the participation of the Social Partners. In addition, the participants listened to a debriefing on the recent UfM events on Youth Entrepreneurship (Tirana) and Social Economy (Barcelona), as well as the Social Dialogue Forum (Marseille).
Twice a year, the UfM Regional Platform on Employment and Labour brings together representatives from employment and labour ministries and agencies of the UfM Member States as well as representatives from European institutions/agencies and international organisations to discuss the current realities and follow up on the implementation of relevant Ministerial declarations, as well as preparing for future UfM Ministerials on Employment and Labour.
