Towards the Depollution of the Mediterranean Sea and Sustainable Consumption and Production
The Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) together with a wide range of partners will be actively engaged in contributing to the issues of depollution and sustainable development in the Mediterranean at the focal points meetings of the Programme for the Assessment and Control of Pollution of the Mediterranean (MEDPOL) and The Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production (CP/RAC), which will be held in Barcelona on 18-21 June.
The MEDPOL meeting, dealing with depollution of land-based sources activities, will offer the opportunity to present the state of play of the UfM study on the depollution investment portfolio for the next years, as well as the UfM Secretariat’s cooperation plans with regional entities involved in this field.
The CP/RAC meeting will review the activities developed by the Centre to promote Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in the Mediterranean, in particular the draft Road Map to Sustainable Consumption and Production. The meeting will also be an occasion to discuss and approve the work programme of the Center for the biennium 2014-2015 to further support the Mediterranean countries to achieve sustainable consumption and production. The recommendations resulting from the Mediterranean Commission for Sustainable Development (MCSD) meeting will be also presented.
