ANIMA Workshop on “Developing investments that contribute to sustainable development”
28-30 April and 5 May 2020. ANIMA investment network, in collaboration with the UfM and the German Development agency GIZ will organize a series of webinar sessions on “Developing investments that contribute to sustainable development”. They will take place on the following days: 28th, 29th and 30th of April and 5th of May 2020. These sessions were converted to online ones due to the Global Pandemic breakout.
During these online sessions, which will bring together stakeholders representing a variety of investment development organisations (Investment Promotion Agencies, Business support organisations, Financing Institutions…), a new initiative « impact invest » will be launched to bring private sector investments towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Mediterranean region.
In the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic and its socio-economic repercussions, the contribution of the private sector is more than ever important to speed up the recovery and thus favoring the achievement the UN-SDGs.
A restitution Workshop will take place in Tangier (Morocco), on 22 September 2020, pending an improvement in the sanitary conditions, to summarize the findings of the virtual sessions and devise a roadmap for the future.
The new initiative will be a capitalization on two concluded UfM projects, promoted by ANIMA, namely “EMIPO” which targeted developing business networks to promote investments in the Euro-Mediterranean region, and “EDILE”, which aimed at optimizing the positive local impact of investments in the Mediterranean countries.
