A 14th edition of the Monaco Blue Initiative (MBI) led by the Foundation of the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco was organized in March 2023. A roundtable discussion on research and innovation and PRIMA projects was held in Egypt during an Italian-led mission on Agriculture, Agri-food and Food Security. La 2e conférence ministérielle de l’UpM sur les transports a eu lieu en ligne, le 9 février 2023. Un nouveau Plan d’action régional jusqu’en 2027 a été approuvé, afin de donner un nouvel élan à la coopération multilatérale dans le secteur du transport et renforcer le développement économique et social de la région. S’appuyant sur le bilan de la Conférence ministérielle de l’UpM sur la recherche et l’innovation qui s’est tenue en juin 2022, l’UpM a co-organisé un événement portant sur la coopération internationale en matière de recherche et d’innovation (R&I) pour la résilience méditerranéenne. A high-level mission on Agriculture, Agri-food, and Food Security to Egypt was held in January 2023, as a follow-up on the Mediterranean Ministerial Dialogue on the Food Crisis of December 2022, co-chaired by Italy, Turkey, and Lebanon, at the margins of the Rome MED Dialogue. It was led by the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, and the Minister of Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini. Les ministres chargés de l’égalité des genres des 42 pays de l’Union pour la Méditerranée (UpM) ont signé aujourd’hui à Madrid une déclaration ministérielle visant à accélérer le renforcement du rôle des femmes dans la région euro-méditerranéenne. Les ministres ont convenu de renforcer le cadre juridique, faciliter l’accès des femmes aux postes de direction dans la vie publique et la prise de décision, accroître leur participation dans la sphère économique, ainsi que combattre et prévenir les violences faites aux femmes et aux filles. Barcelona, 27-29 September 2022. In the framework of a cooperation agreement, the annual meetings between Sweden’s government agency for development cooperation, Sida, and the UfMS were held in Barcelona from the 27th to the 29th of September at the UfM Secretariat premises in Barcelona. The meeting served to present the UfM mission and the UfM Secretariat work methodology, give an overview on the main achievements of the Sida – UfM Secretariat Partnership and discuss the new features of the extended cooperation agreement. The Conference on “Sustainable Urbanisation through Port City Transformation” was held in Barcelona on 28 and 29 September 2022, and it provided a unique opportunity for representatives of Mediterranean ports and adjacent cities, government representatives, and other key regional and international stakeholders to discuss sustainable urbanisation through port city transformation.
