16-18 April 2024, Brussels – The Union for the Mediterranean, in collaboration with UNIMED and the European Commission, will take part in the eighth edition of the UNIMED WEEK, to be held in Brussels, which seeks to propose a political reflection by the Euro-Mediterranean academic community on the relationships between European Institutions and the Mediterranean region, offering an opportunity for evaluation and revaluation of regional policies.
On the 17 of April, the UfM will participate in the session on “Regional cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean Region”, addressing the issue of Academic cooperation. Furthermore, during this session the study UfM “Green Innovation and Employability in the Med through the Triple Helix” will be presented.
On that same date, the “Funders Roundtable on Next steps to support the UfM Roadmap on Health, Renewable Energy and Climate Change” will take place, seeking to discuss further steps towards the implementation of the UfM R&I roadmaps on the three priority areas. The implementation is key to ensure that the agreed R&I priorities come into practice and are developed effectively generating the desired outcomes in the region, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
On the next day, 18 of April, the UfM will co-organise the Soft Launch of the “UfM-Portal for R&I Cooperation in the Mediterranean Region”. The portal will serve as a learning and collaborative platform for Mediterranean cooperation, aiming at bolstering the UfM Regional Policy Dialogue on Research and Innovation (R&I) and facilitating the implementation of R&I roadmaps on health, renewable energies, and climate change.
Lastly, the Horizon Europe NCPs Regional Meeting will take place. The event will particularly focus on the follow up of the implementation of the R&I roadmaps on the three priorities of health, climate change and renewable energies. It aims to present Horizon Europe and explain its different elements, with a specific focus on the Horizon Europe Work Programme and opportunities for cooperation under the Mediterranean Initiative.
