The call for applications to become the 2026 Mediterranean Capitals of Culture & Dialogue (MCCD) is currently open. To inform Euro-Mediterranean stakeholders who are interested in applying, an info-session will be hosted online on April 26th. This event is part of the monthly informative sessions organised by the UfM and the Anna Lindh Foundation to provide more details on the application process and answer any potential questions.
Who can apply to become a Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue?
- Local or regional authorities, regardless of the size of the city
- Cities located in a country of the Union for the Mediterranean, whether coastal or inland
- Cities not previously designated as Mediterranean Capital of Culture & Dialogue

The Mediterranean Capitals of Culture and Dialogue is an initiative launched by the 43 Member States of the Union for the Mediterranean during the 7th Regional Forum in November 2022. The initiative was created to further promote the diversity and shared cultural identity of the Euro-Mediterranean region and contribute to a better mutual understanding of its peoples.
