October 28, 2024, Barcelona. The Union for the Mediterranean Foreign Affairs ministers will gather for the UfM’s 9th Regional Forum to discuss how to advance the organisation’s reform, launched in 2023, as well as to address the most pressing regional challenges, notably the alarming situation in the Middle East. The event will provide an opportunity to exchange views on how to collectively address these matters in the face of regional tensions.
Representatives of the 43 UfM Member States are invited to the event chaired by Josep Borrell, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, alongside Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, in the presence of Nasser Kamel, the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean. The UfM Regional Forum will be hosted by José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain.
The UfM Regional Forum will be held after a Euro-Mediterranean Civil Society Conference, organised by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMED), and followed by an EU Southern Neighbourhood Ministerial meeting.
