The UfM and the region of Murcia organize a Technical Workshop on Regional and Sub Regional Water Project
The Region of Murcia, in Spain, and the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean jointly organized a three-day seminar to exchange experiences in the development and proper use of resources in water-scarce regions. The workshop, that was held in Murcia last February 21 to 23, focused in the analysis of Murcia’s successful experience in the field of water preservation and re-use and in the discussion of the development of regional and sub-regional projects in some specific issues faced by water-scarce countries in the region.
This international forum brought together twenty experts from nine member-countries of the Union for the Mediterranean. The Deputy General Secretary and Head of Environment and Water Division in the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), Rafiq Husseini, said that the Region of Murcia ‘is a model in the efficient use of water resources’, and stressed cooperation between regions to ‘exchange experience and expertise in technology and research’.
The working sessions were complemented by field visits to learn about the experience of success that Murcia brings on the management of water resources.
